How it all began...

I started making soaps, lotions and oils out of my apartment after visiting with a friend. We got to talking about how the treatments her daughter was receiving for eczema weren’t working and how her doctor just kept prescribing creams and steroids. My friend was not comfortable with her three year old being on all these medications, like most moms. She wanted so badly to find someway to help relieve the itchy, flaky skin and to see her daughter’s hair grow out. The eczema covered 1/3 of the side of her head. It was quite a heart breaking conversation.

When I got home I talked to my boyfriend, at the time, about his eczema that he was always scratching and picking at. He had told me he stopped using the creams because they didn’t work for him and in some cases made the itch worse. At the time I was taking an herbology class and immediately started thinking of the plants that would sooth the itch. After some time thinking and looking up a ton of stuff, I decided to make a roll on oil to help relieve itching.

My boyfriend became my test subject. The first time he used it, after a few minutes he said the itch was gone! He was so happy it had finally stopped itching! He used it for three or four days and amazingly, not only did the itch stop completely, the skin cleared up completely as well. I was so shocked at how well it worked that I decided to work on a bar soap that would help with dry and itchy skin. My whole family used it and it was amazing how well it relieved our skin! My daughter has very sensitive skin and my son always had this extremely dry patch of skin behind his arm. They both had success using the soap I had made!

My friend upstairs had complained about her one year old having a dry rash on his back. So… I gave her a bar of soap. A week later she asked for more she said that it was the only soap that has helped! By this point I was beginning to get very excited that I was able to help.

The next visit with my friend’s daughter who had the eczema on her head, I excitedly told her about what I had been up to. Very hopeful, she asked if it would be okay to try it. I told her she could have it all if any of it help! We started off trying the roll on in a very small spot behind her ear and for night time baths she would use the bar of soap. About a month later her skin cleared up and her hair started to grow!
